A campaign correspondence box is a portable storage chest originally designed for military officers and travellers during the 19th century to hold writing materials and documents securely.

These boxes were typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or camphor, and reinforced with brass corners, straps, and flush-fitting handles to withstand travel.

Authentic pieces generally feature hand-cut dovetail joints, brass strapwork, flush-fitting escutcheons, and aged patination consistent with mid-Victorian craftsmanship.

It can be placed on a desk, sideboard, or console table to serve as functional desktop storage while adding historical texture to a room.

Maintain the piece by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to the wood, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners on both the timber and brass.
