This set of six Regency dining chairs originates from the Grand Regency period around 1810. Constructed from warm brown mahogany timber with a polished finish, the chairs display open back frames with carved crest rails and sabre front legs. The drop-in seats have a light burgundy red fabric upholstery featuring a subtle patterned design, complemented by solid frames showing no historic repairs. Measuring 85 cm high, 50 cm wide, and 51 cm deep, these sturdy chairs suit a formal dining room setting around a traditional dining table. They offer practical daily seating while introducing classic period style to a domestic interior.

Dust timber frames regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding modern aerosol sprays or damp cloths.

These classic chairs work as a striking contrast around a minimal glass or marble dining table, or placed singly in hallway alcoves and study corners.

Authentic pieces feature period construction methods such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, original corner blocks, hand-planed timber surfaces, and natural patination consistent with two centuries of wear.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid or veneered Cuban mahogany, rosewood, and giltwood. Seats were traditionally stuffed with horsehair and covered in woven silk, damask, or needlepoint fabrics.

Regency period chairs, crafted in Britain between 1811 and 1830, are characterised by classical proportions, neoclassical motifs, reeded details, curved crest rails, and swept sabre or turned legs.
