FAQs

Gothic Revival furniture draws inspiration from medieval architecture, featuring elements such as pointed arches, tracery, linenfold panels, and heraldic motifs, gaining significant popularity during the 19th century.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from dense, durable hardwoods such as oak, elm, and walnut, often finished with traditional beeswax to protect and enhance the natural grain.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as mortise and tenon construction, hand-carved detailing with natural tool marks, and appropriate patina and timber shrinkage consistent with age.

These statement pieces work effectively as sculptural seating in entrance hallways, as accent chairs in a minimalist study, or contrasted against a contemporary dining table to add historical depth.

Maintain antique wooden furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and nourish the wood periodically using traditional beeswax.
