An impressive fusee timepiece by J.Shore. The high quality eight day four columnar pillar single chain fusee movement and thick brass plates is in excellent condition. Housed in a carved mahogany case in the form of a laurel wreath, tied in a attractively carved bow, surrounding an unusual black dial with gilded numerals and brass hands. The minute hand is elongated and counter weighted.
Examples of similar clocks were made by Vulliamy for the Great Exhibition at Crystal Palace in 1851.
