We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Georgian style spans the reigns of the first four British monarchs named George, from 1714 to 1830, characterised by a shift towards classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and the adoption of mahogany as a primary medium.

Cabinetmakers predominantly utilised imported dense hardwoods such as Cuban and Honduras mahogany, frequently employing mortise and tenon joinery alongside hand-carved decorative elements and upholstered drop-in seat frames.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery marks, irregular tool traces beneath the seat rails, patination consistent with age, and dense, heavy timber grain rather than modern machine-produced uniformity.

An antique carver chair works effectively as a standalone statement piece at a modern writing desk or paired with minimalist dining tables to create intentional contrast between historical craftsmanship and modern simplicity.

Preserve antique mahogany by maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and treating the timber periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
