Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Desktop stationery cabinets and post boxes became increasingly popular during the 19th century as postal networks expanded and letter writing became a daily domestic and professional practice. These pieces were crafted to organise correspondence, envelopes, and writing implements securely on a desk or hall table.

These items were typically constructed from hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, often featuring fine veneers, inlay work, and glass panels. Joinery techniques from the period included dovetailing for drawers and mortise and tenon joints for structural stability, complemented by brass hinges and locks.

Authenticity is assessed through timber characteristics, hand-cut joinery, period-appropriate brass hardware, and natural patina resulting from decades of handling. Interior construction, such as secondary softwoods used in hidden compartments, also helps verify the age of the piece.

An antique wooden post box can be styled on a study desk, console table, or bookshelf to add historical texture and functional storage. It pairs well with contemporary minimalist decor, acting as a focal point that brings warmth and character to the space.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading. Apply microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the surface and protect the finish without causing moisture damage.
