Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture, produced between 1901 and 1910, is characterised by lighter proportions and delicate carving compared to earlier Victorian pieces. Designers frequently drew inspiration from 18th-century styles like Chippendale and Hepplewhite, utilizing dark hardwoods such as mahogany and rosewood.

Edwardian armchairs were constructed using solid hardwood frames, predominantly mahogany or walnut. Traditional upholstery incorporated coil springs, horsehair filling, webbed bases, and metal castors fitted to turned or tapered legs.

Authentic pieces feature mortise-and-tenon joinery, genuine brass or porcelain castors, and hand-carved decorative motifs such as rosettes or floral medallions. Companion sets with a larger arm chair for a gentleman and an armless chair for a lady were typical of the era.

Place a pair of Edwardian chairs on either side of a fireplace or alcove to create a structured focal point. Reupholstering in contemporary linen or textured fabrics allows traditional wooden frames to blend into modern living rooms or studies.

Dust mahogany frames regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year along the grain. Keep upholstered sections away from direct sunlight to prevent fabric fading, and vacuum upholstery gently using a soft brush attachment.
