Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency Anglo-Indian furniture combines traditional British cabinetmaking forms of the early 19th century with indigenous Indian motifs and dense local timbers. Skilled Indian craftsmen adapted European pattern books using native woods like padouk, rosewood, and teak, incorporating deep carving and elaborate turned details.

Dressing mirrors of this era were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or padouk. Supporting elements featured hand-turned columns, brass or glass adjustment handles, and silvered glass mirror plates.

Authentic pieces feature period joinery methods, such as hand-cut dovetails on the base platform, hand-carved spiral twist supports, and natural age-related oxidisation or gentle foxing on the glass plate. The tightening knobs often feature period-appropriate moulded glass or brass fixtures.

A large tabletop dressing mirror can be placed atop a chest of drawers, bedroom dressing table, or wide hallway console to serve as an architectural focal point. Its dark timber and sculptural supports create historical visual weight when contrasted against contemporary minimalist backdrop walls.

Dust the timber regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to maintain the wood grain. Clean the glass plate using a dedicated glass cleaner applied directly to a cloth rather than sprayed on the frame to prevent liquid from seeping into the wooden rebate.
