Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French silvered jewellery casket is a small decorative metal container produced primarily in nineteenth-century France to store personal items and accessories. These boxes feature relief panels depicting classical genre scenes, filigree borders, and hinged lids.

Artisans formed these caskets from stamped or cast copper panels, which were electroplated with a layer of silver. The relief sections were secured together around a frame, frequently paired with internal fabric lining and integrated lock mechanisms.

Authentic pieces display natural wear where the underlying copper emerges through the silver finish, particularly on high points and edges. Period-appropriate iron or brass hardware, clear casting details, and maker stamps help verify age.

Position the casket on a vanity table, bedside cabinet, or sideboard top as a decorative focal point. It provides functional storage for small keepsakes while adding historical texture to contemporary or eclectic rooms.

Dust the surface regularly using a soft microfibre cloth to protect the silver layer from wearing down. Avoid abrasive metal cleansers and chemical polishes, and store the item in a dry place to prevent oxidisation.
