Superb Antique Gilt Bronze Figural Single Chain Fusee Mantel Clock Bently & Beck.

This superb single fusee mantel clock has a gilt bronze case depicting a flute player, playing from a music book. The flute player himself is cast to the upmost quality and is depicted wearing fantastic traditional clothes. The music book is then cast on a music stand which sits on top of the “drum” style movement and dial housing which in turn sits on a shaped pedestal. The whole case then has a wonderful base with a shaped front with three fantastically detailed ormolu mounts. The whole case then sits on four fantastic turned feet. The case has a wonderful gilt colour and shows of the pieces quality beautifully.

The dial is then painted and set out in black Roman numerals with a smaller ring to the outside marking the minutes. The dial then has a wonderful shaped surround and is finished by two lovely shaped hands.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed via the back. It is ticking away and keeping time as it should and comes complete with its shaped, regulating pendulum and its winding key. The movement is then signed to the back “Bentley & Beck LONDON 2017” showing that the clock was made by Bentley & Beck of the Royal Exchange London.

Bentley & Beck are listed as working in the Royal Exchange, London between 1805-24. The only example similar to this that I can find is noted as being From Queen Mary's Collection; originally at Marlborough House and transfered to Buckingham Palace 1953 on the Royal Collection Trusts website.
