Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A tea poy is a specialized piece of 18th- or 19th-century furniture comprising a secure tea caddy container mounted onto a tripod or quadruped pedestal stand. It was designed to hold valuable tea leaves, blend varieties, and store associated accessories near the drawing room host.

High-grade cabinet timbers such as burr walnut, mahogany, and rosewood were predominantly used for the exterior veneer and solid framing. The interior caddy boxes often incorporated foil linings, velvet accents, brass locks, and cut-glass mixing bowls.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural figured wood grain patterns, period joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetails, and period-correct brass hardware or escutcheons. Look for traditional features like carved gadrooning, fluted pedestal turnings, and original castors.

A tea poy functions effectively as a standalone decorative accent table, side table, or sculptural storage unit in a living space. Its compact footprint permits placement in alcoves, beside armchairs, or within reading nooks to add historical character.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually following the grain of the timber. Avoid direct sunlight, proximity to radiators, and excessive humidity to prevent the veneer from lifting or fading.
