Description:
The frame is constructed of solid walnut and features an upholstered back with a down swept top rail, which incorporates a central carved ribbon cartouche flanked by fine floral carving, secured by fine tapering reeded ring turned columns either side with carved acorn finials. The back is secured by down swept padded arms having acanthus leaf decoration above shaped supports. The stuff over sprung seat and padded back has been newly upholstered in top quality ivory chenille that incorporates a small diamond pattern, finished with matching gold braiding. This upholstery would have reflected the original style of upholstery used. The sprung seat is firm but comfortable; you do not sink into the seat. The underside of the seat has been recovered in traditional hessian material. The armchair is raised on fine tapering fluted legs, which terminate on fine baluster turnings.

Condition Report:
The armchair is in good condition having been newly reupholstered in the traditional manner. Therefore, the upholstery is new and free from damage, rips, and marks or fading. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no missing carvings. The frames and arms are solid and in good condition with no loose movements. The armchair sits firm on the ground and does not wobble. As the armchair boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic rich colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
