John Beazor Antiques is a family firm, established in 1875 and based in Cambridge since 1940. We are a traditional antiques shop, but very much in the 21st century. We deal in 18th and early 19th century furniture, barometers and clocks. We choose our stock for its originality and for the quality of its colour, patination and design.

We are members of the BADA. We do not exhibit at fairs preferring to deal from our Cambridge shop where we hold Open Weekends from time to time.

Open 9.00am – 5.00pm, Tuesday to Friday, 10.00am - 4.00pm on Saturday. A prior phone call or email before visiting is always a good idea and we are happy to be contacted outside of business hours.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency period work-boxes typically feature neo-classical architectural shapes, such as the sarcophagus form, alongside decorative metal mounts, intricate feet, and specialized compartments for sewing tools and personal accessories.

Russia leather was vegetable-tanned birch-bark calfskin known for its reddish hue, durability, and distinct aroma, often paired with mahogany frames and cast gilt-brass or ormolu hardware.

Authentic pieces generally display a fine cross-hatched grain pattern, natural surface patination, hand-cut dovetail or carcass construction, and era-appropriate cast brass fittings with original screws or pins.

Small decorative caskets can be placed on sideboard tops, console tables, or study desks to add historical contrast, tactile warmth, and functional storage for small items.

Keep the leather away from direct heat sources and treat occasionally with a specialist leather conditioner, while gently dusting metal mounts with a soft dry cloth to avoid damaging historical gilding.
