Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Sheraton tea caddy is a small lockable wooden container from the late 18th century, named after designer Thomas Sheraton. These pieces are recognised for their Neoclassical proportions, refined mahogany construction, and delicate marquetry or stringing details.

Primary woods included mahogany, satinwood, and harewood, often featuring crossbanded borders and marquetry inlays made of boxwood or ebony. The interiors were frequently lined with lead foil or zinc to preserve tea leaves, supplemented by brass or bone escutcheons and handles.

Authentic Georgian caddies show hand-cut dovetail joinery, natural shrinkage line variations along wood grain, and historical wear around the lock escutcheon. The underside typically demonstrates uneven hand-planed surfacing rather than modern machine-milled finishes.

An antique tea caddy can be styled atop a console table, sideboard, or bookshelf alongside contemporary ceramics and framed art to create visual contrast. It also serves as functional decorative storage on an office desk or nightstand.

Keep mahogany furniture away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent wood warping and veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually to nourish the wood finish.
