Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A Victorian mirrored posey vase is a decorative wall-mounted object combining a reflective mirror backplate with a small glass vessel intended for displaying fresh flowers. Popular in the late nineteenth century, these objects served to reflect ambient light and disperse floral fragrance throughout domestic interiors.

These items were typically crafted using silvered plate glass with hand-engraved or wheel-cut decorative motifs, paired with hand-blown or mould-formed clear crystal or cranberry glass vessels, secured with metal brackets.

Authentic pieces feature signs of age such as natural desilvering or foxing on the glass plate, hand-cut bevelled edges, period metal mountings, and hand-blown glass receptacles displaying pontil marks or slight variations in thickness.

Position the piece on narrow accent walls, within hallway gallery arrangements, or beside windows where natural light can strike the reflective surface. It can be displayed empty as an architectural artifact or filled with seasonal dried or fresh greenery.

Clean the mirrored backing carefully using a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding liquid cleaners near the rear edges to prevent silvering deterioration. Wash the glass vase vessel separately with mild detergent and warm water, ensuring it is completely dry before remounting.
