An Art Deco cocktail cabinet dating from 1930, made in walnut, glass, mirror, and chrome with a warm brown finish. The piece has a hinged lid, a fitted interior with a mirrored back, and cabriole legs. Visible details include chrome handles, thumb moulded edges, and carved cabriole legs with pad feet. The cabinet measures 120 cm high, 71 cm wide, and 44.5 cm deep. This cocktail cabinet fits into a living room or dining room for entertaining guests. The interior houses an assortment of glassware, decanters, a cocktail shaker, a soda syphon, and a silver-plated tray mounted on the underside of the lid.

Popularised during the 1920s and 1930s, an Art Deco cocktail cabinet is a specialised piece of furniture designed for storing liquor, glassware, and bar accessories. These cabinets emerged alongside the rise of home entertaining and cocktail culture.

Craftsmen typically utilised hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, and maple veneers, often accented with mirrored interiors, chrome fixtures, and glass shelves. High-end examples frequently incorporated fitted sections to hold individual glasses and shakers.

Authentic pieces feature period-appropriate construction, such as hand-cut dovetail joints, original mirror foxing, and period hardware like nickel or chrome latches. Look for specialised design details such as pop-up mechanisms, integrated drop-down doors, or custom-cut slots for cocktail accessories.

Position the cabinet as a standalone feature piece in a dining room, living area, or wide hallway to create an entertaining focal point. Keep the exterior top simple with a table lamp or small sculpture, allowing the interior display to take centre stage when opened.

Dust the exterior wood regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish occasionally along the grain. Clean internal mirror and glass sections using an alcohol-based glass cleaner applied directly to a cloth rather than sprayed onto the timber.
