Vintage British Oval Floral Metal Jewellery Trinket Box Purple Velvet C.1930

A charming vintage British oval jewellery or trinket box, believed to date from the mid-20th century, circa 1930.

The hinged lid features a colourful floral design incorporating roses and other flowers in shades of pink, red, yellow and blue, surrounded by decorative scrolling borders with gilt detailing.

The gold-toned metal body is embellished with an attractive repeating star pattern against a finely textured background, standing on three small rounded metal feet.

Opening to reveal a richly coloured purple velvet-lined interior, the box retains much of its original decorative character and charm as a traditional dressing-table accessory.

The inside metal rim is stamped MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN, confirming British manufacture.

Condition: Displays considerable age-related wear, particularly to the floral decoration on the lid, where substantial areas of the original finish have been lost. Further surface tarnishing, scratches and discolouration are visible to the metalwork. The purple velvet lining shows signs of use, with minor marks and wear.
