These Regency period bedside cupboards form a true matching pair of left- and right-hand opening cabinets from around 1820. Constructed from warm brown mahogany with rounded front corners, they display square tops above single panel doors fitted with small round brass knob handles, while the slender legs below are finely turned with decorative ring details and neat pointed feet. One door shows a visible repair. Each compact table measures 74.5 cm high, 39.5 cm wide and 38 cm deep. Positioned beside a bed, these versatile cupboards provide useful storage surfaces for lamps, books and nighttime essentials while complementing traditional or classic bedroom schemes. They sit neatly alongside other period furniture in a guest room or master suite, adding traditional character and practical surface space.

Regency style furniture originated in Britain during the early nineteenth century under George, Prince Regent. It is defined by classical Greek and Roman influences, symmetrical proportions, straight vertical lines, fine mahogany construction, and delicate turned or reeded legs.

Regency pot cupboards were typically constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, prized for their deep grain and durability. Hand-crafted timber backboards, hand-turned legs, and cast brass or turned wooden knob handles are standard features of pieces from this period.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery such as dovetail joints, hand-planed timber surfaces, and natural wear around the handles and base. Look for original brass or wood fittings, unevenness in turned elements due to hand-lathe production, and signs of age-appropriate patination.

A pair of slim mahogany cupboards can flank a upholstered bedstead to create balance in a master bedroom. Alternatively, place them as occasional end tables beside a contemporary sofa or situate them individually in narrow hallways as compact storage units.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by dusting regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the wood grain, avoiding silicone-based sprays and keeping timber away from direct heat sources or intense sunlight.
