Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 19th-century Regency bedside cupboard in warm brown mahogany stands on four ring-turned tapered legs and possesses a figured top above a cockbeaded single cupboard door secured with a small brass knob handle. The visible wood displays a rich grain pattern with deep reddish-brown tones across the top and door panel, while the legs show neat circular lathe work terminating in plain pointed feet. Measuring 81 cm high, 38 cm wide, and 37 cm deep, this piece serves as a compact storage unit for a bedroom beside a bed or fits neatly into an empty corner of a living room or hallway to hold small personal items.

FAQs

A Regency bedside cupboard, historically referred to as a pot cupboard or night table, was crafted during the early nineteenth century in Britain. Designed primarily for bedroom utility, these pieces contained enclosed storage elevated on elegant turned legs.

Regency cabinetmakers predominantly utilised solid mahogany and flame mahogany veneers, prized for their rich grain patterns. Interior structures often incorporated secondary woods such as pine or oak, fitted with brass knobs or pulls.

Authentic pieces feature period construction markers such as hand-turned slender legs, hand-cut dovetail joinery, authentic timber shrinkage marks, and original brass hardware showing natural oxidisation.

These versatile accent pieces function well as side tables beside a armchair, compact end tables in a living area, or functional storage tables in narrow hallway alcoves.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to maintain the timber patina. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent wood movement.
