This nineteenth-century bedside table is executed in mahogany with a warm brown timber colour and finished with polished sides and a polished back. The piece displays a three-quarter gallery top above a single panel door fitted with a small turned wooden knob on the right side. Below the cupboard section, four slender, reeded, tapering legs stand on small turned feet, displaying vertical fluting along their lengths. The timber shows a richly figured grain across the top and the door front, retaining an authentic antique patina. Measuring 81 cm high, 41 cm wide, and 38 cm deep, the table provides compact storage suitable for use as a bedside cabinet or a standalone side table in a bedroom, sitting room, or hallway. The finished back allows placement in open spaces away from walls while maintaining a polished appearance from all viewing angles.

William IV furniture, dating from 1830 to 1837, bridges the Regency and early Victorian eras. It is defined by substantial proportions, rich hardwoods such as mahogany, turned and reeded legs, and refined carved detailing.

Nightstands and pot cupboards from this period were predominantly constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, with brass or turned wooden hardware and joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetails.

Authentic pieces display period-correct construction markers including hand-planed drawer linings, natural patination, timber oxidisation, and precise reeding or turning on the legs consistent with 1830s cabinetmaking.

These versatile small cabinets function effectively as bedside tables, sofa side tables, or hall accents, pairing well with contemporary lighting and neutral upholstery to contrast modern and traditional elements.

Maintain mahogany by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year, keeping the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent drying and fading.
