Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Named for King William IV who reigned from 1830 to 1837, this design style marks the transition between refined Regency proportions and heavier early Victorian forms, characterised by bold carved scrolls, robust turned legs, and rich timbers.

Dense West Indian or Cuban mahogany was the primary wood favoured for its strength and rich grain, typically paired with traditional webbed seat construction and horsehair stuffing beneath woven upholstery fabric.

Key identification features include broad curved top rails with scroll ends, carved mid-rails, fluted or lotus-carved front legs, and heavy solid timber frames with hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery.

These chairs function as accent seating in an entryway, alongside a writing desk in a home office, or positioned on either side of a console table to introduce historic character to modern schemes.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice annually following the timber grain. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and bright sunlight to prevent drying or finish deterioration.
