A very rare 19th Century Chinese Chippendale style giltwood compartmental overmantel mirror. This fabulous piece is finely hand carved and of exceptional quality and grand proportions. The mirror glass plate of rectangular form is set within a stunning pierced, moulded and fluted giltwood frame which is profusely and intricately carved in high relief with stunning motif details throughout, comprising of an arrangements of elaborately detailed foliate, flowerheads, berries, leaves ruffles and c-scrolls throughout. Surmounted with a fabulous centred compartmental crest composition flanked with c-scrolls, richly trailing foliate and a pair of finials. The shaped platform base is features further beautiful arrangements of scrolls, foliate, finials and flowerhead motifs.
