Description

Early Georgian Oak Long Clock Signed Budgen Croydon.

This is probably Thomas Budgen who was working at Croydon circa 1735-37. George II Period.

(There were also clocks signed in error as Budgen Croydon.) (Many Engravers were Dutch and, so with the language differences, errors regularly crept in.)

From 1750- 1824 there was also a William Budgen and from 1838-2851 there was a John Bugden of Croydon, who were presumably related to Thomas.

The case of Golden Oak is Good, Sound & Stable. Long Full Length Trunk Door with Shaped Surround Edging and Attractive Patination.

The Hood with Reeded Columns Built into the Glass Door

COLOURED & ETCHED Glass to the Hood Side Panels.
