Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Victorian bedside cabinets dates from 1860 and takes the form of substantial freestanding cupboards in a rich warm brown flame mahogany veneer. Each cabinet stands 82.5 cm high, 51 cm wide and 53 cm deep, presenting a polished rectangular top above a single door with an arched inset panel. The timber displays prominent natural figuring across the front, surrounded by simple linear mouldings and a solid plinth base at the floor. One interior contains a single shelf, whilst the other houses a deep storage drawer and compartment accessed via a side-hinged door with a tiny visible hinge pin. The polished surfaces reflect light evenly, showing deep reddish-brown tones without visible fading or damage across the wood grain. In a contemporary home, these matching cabinets suit placement beside a bed in a traditional bedroom or function as occasional storage units in a living room, hallway or study. The compact square footprint allows them to fit neatly against walls or into corners while providing enclosed surface storage space. The restrained Victorian design complements period interiors, English country house aesthetics and classic wooden furniture arrangements.

FAQs

Victorian flame mahogany bedside cabinets are nineteenth-century bedroom storage pieces crafted using flame mahogany veneers, which display a characteristic figure resembling flickering flames, mounted over solid timber frames.

Traditional construction relies on solid hardwood framing topped with sliced flame mahogany cut from the crotch of the mahogany tree, assembled using hand-cut joinery, panel doors, and solid plinth bases.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, natural age-related timber shrinkage along door panels, period brass hinges, and a deep, aged French polish finish displaying slight surface variations.

Pair these cabinets alongside contemporary upholstered bed frames or neutral linen bedding to create a balanced visual contrast between historic timber warmth and modern minimal lines.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice per year, keeping timber away from direct radiators and prolonged intense sunlight.
