Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Lloyd Loom was invented in 1917 by Marshall Burns Lloyd, who patented a process of twisting kraft paper around steel wire to create a durable woven fabric. Produced extensively in Britain from the 1920s onwards, it became a staple of 20th-century conservatory and bedroom design.

Lloyd Loom furniture features woven paper yarn reinforced with internal steel wire strands. This fabric is bent over steam-bent timber frames, creating a smooth finish without the sharp exposed ends typical of traditional cane or wicker.

Authentic pieces typically feature a small metal trademark plaque attached to the frame, often stamped with a manufacture date. The smooth weave pattern, lack of exposed wire ends, and seamless curved construction also distinguish genuine items.

Positioning a painted woven armchair in a sunlit conservatory, bedroom corner, or dressing room adds textural interest. Layering with a wool throw or patterned cushion integrates the piece effortlessly into modern country or eclectic schemes.

Clean regularly using a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner or a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid excessive moisture, as wet paper-wrapped wire can degrade, and store indoors away from direct weather exposure.
