Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian style furniture, originating in 18th-century Britain, is characterised by balanced proportions, symmetrical forms, and the extensive use of high-quality hardwoods like mahogany. Key features include refined carvings, tray-top galleries, and brass swan-neck drawer pulls.

These pieces typically feature solid mahogany framework with decorative flame mahogany veneers applied to top surfaces and drawer fronts. Drawers are built using hand-cut dovetail joints, accompanied by solid brass handles and sturdy lower shelves.

Authentic 18th-century Georgian pieces display uneven hand-planed backing, hand-sawn dovetails, and natural oxidisation inside drawers. 20th-century Georgian-style revivals feature machine-cut dovetails, uniform screws, and modern varnish finishes while maintaining historical proportions.

Place a pair on either side of a upholstered bed or at the ends of a modern sofa to ground the room with rich wood tones. Pair them with contemporary ceramic lamps or minimalist artwork to balance historical and modern aesthetics.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep items away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage and finish fading.
