George III Mahogany Tea Caddy

Description

A fine example of a Georgian mahogany tea caddy of square form with a brass escutcheon and small brass carrying handle. The caddy is divided internally with three compartments for tea, a longer section for a spoon and the lid of the box is lined with green baize. It is raised on elegant brass ball and claw feet and it comes with its original working key.

It is in very good condition for its age with a lovely rich patina. The interior is generally clean and tidy. There are some signs of age and use, some minor knocks and marks and a couple of old repairs but no major damages. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
