18th Century Oak Strong Box

A good example of an antique oak strong box with its original triple lock. It is embellished with stud work detail and dated 1754. It has iron carrying handles and the lid opens on blacksmith made strap hinges. It has its original handmade lock with triple key holes and escutcheons and it comes with one of its original working keys. It is a very heavy duty piece with a good weight and well made with handmade dovetail joints.
 
It is in very good condition for its age. It is strong and sturdy and generally clean and tidy inside. There are signs of use and age, some general knocks and marks and a few small chips and splits but nothing untoward. There have been some repairs over the years but nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
