A Mid 19th Century Ash and Elm Thames Valley Ebonised Windsor Chair.
A handsome mid 19th century, Oxford ash and elm, ebonised original Windsor chair with distinctive Thames Valley turned supports and bar back design, originally ebonised which has developed an untouched timeworn patination and rubbing-wear to reveal the timber grain beneath and an established caramelised texture, an exquisite patina.
Structurally excellent and will go through our workshop to check for any loose joints but otherwise very good and aesthetically super, a charming, original Windsor of considerable decorative appeal whilst a practical, versatile household chair. Over time it has probable been cut down marginally by a few cm, which is not uncommon due to general wear and often wet/cold floors etc..,
A superbly stylish farmhouse kitchen, carver chair, hallway or desk, a lovely thing with a great design and colour.
