A stylish pair of antique Victorian carved mahogany desk chairs with unusual circular spider web backs, shaped arms and newly upholstered seats. The backs are beautifully detailed with carved roundels, pierced splats and a carved crest, giving the chairs a strong decorative look from every angle.The mahogany has a rich polished colour and the frames are well shaped with swept arms, carved seat rails and elegant cabriole legs. These would work beautifully as desk chairs, hall chairs, bedroom chairs or occasional chairs either side of a console.Spider web and wheel back designs were made to give a chair a lighter, more decorative appearance while still keeping the strength of a framed back.
