S and S Timms Antiques Ltd has dated this Antique Coromandel Work Box to the 19th Century.
This fabulous little work box has a real charm to it. The timber used is highly figured and has retained a good colour.

Coromandel is a wood which originated from the Coromandel Coast in India and South East Asia. It is well known as being the cabinetmakers timber of choice for some of the finest antique boxes of the 18th and 19th centuries. It became virtually extinct by the start of the 20th Century such was its popularity and limited availability.

This box is in excellent condition, with just the expected old marks, scuffs and scrapes for something of this age, all of which have now blended in nicely with the overall surface. As with all object we offer for sale the box has been inspected in our workshops by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being placed on sale.
It also comes with working lock and key.
