This Victorian walnut salon chair dates from the 1870 period and displays solid walnut construction with warm brown tones. The carved wooden frame incorporates a high, curved backrest with a button-tufted cream fabric insert, framed by open carved arms and a decorative crest rail. The front cabriole legs terminate in white ceramic castors, supporting a wide upholstered seat cushion finished in a matching cream textile. Visible details include crisp wooden carvings along the crest and frame, as well as minor spotting on the fabric surface. The chair measures 95 cm high, 55 cm wide, and 55 cm deep, with a seat height of 36 cm. In a contemporary home, this accent chair provides a comfortable occasional seat for a living room, dressing room, bedroom, or reading corner. Its traditional English country house aesthetic pairs well with classic or eclectic interior schemes. The compact proportions make it suitable for smaller spaces while maintaining a decorative presence against a wall or beside a fireplace. Routine care maintains the upholstered surfaces and polished walnut timber for daily use.

A Victorian salon chair, often referred to as a slipper or nursing chair, is a low-seated chair designed during the nineteenth century for formal drawing rooms, reception spaces, or private dressing areas.

These chairs were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, featuring hand-carved detailing, coil springs, traditional stuffing, and ceramic or brass castors.

Authentic pieces feature hand-carved foliage or scrollwork on the timber frame, traditional joinery techniques, subtle hand-carved irregularities, and period-correct brass or ceramic castors attached to cabriole or turned front legs.

A Victorian salon chair functions effectively as a focal accent piece in a contemporary bedroom, hallway, or dressing room, providing tactile texture and historical contrast against modern minimalist architecture.

To preserve the walnut frame, dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply beeswax polish annually, while keeping the chair away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent timber movement or fabric degradation.
