A Georgian tea caddy is a small, lockable container manufactured during the Georgian period to store expensive loose-leaf tea safely under lock and key.

These pieces were typically constructed from fine timbers such as mahogany, satinwood, or burl, often featuring delicate veneer work, stringing, and marquetry or inlaid medallions.

Authenticity is identified by period-appropriate construction methods, hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass or iron locking mechanisms, and the natural ageing of the timber and interior foil linings.

An antique tea caddy can be styled on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or side table as a decorative accent piece that introduces historical texture and craftsmanship to contemporary schemes.

Preservation requires keeping the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber cracking, applying microcrystalline wax sparingly, and avoiding harsh chemical cleaning products.
