The rectangular case with brass catch opens to an oval shaving mirror, the frame folding out to form an easel and closes to protect the looking glass.

English, circa 1840-1880

Folding campaign mirrors, used by the military when in the field for shaving and generally keeping up appearances, they fold flat to make them portable.
