Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Characterised by classical symmetry, architectural proportions, and delicate ornamentation inspired by Greco-Roman antiquity, Louis XVI style clocks often incorporate urns, floral garlands, and acanthus leaf motifs crafted from gilt bronze mounted on fine marble.

These clocks typically feature bases carved from dense, variegated marbles such as Rouge Griotte or Rouge Languedoc, decorated with fire-gilded bronze (ormolu) mounts and a white enamel dial with hand-painted numerals.

Authentic period clocks feature heavy cast-bronze mounts with sharp, hand-chased details, solid marble bases with natural veining, and mechanical movements often stamped with maker marks or serial numbers on the back plate.

Place the clock centrally on a marble or timber mantelpiece, or position it on a grand sideboard alongside contemporary artwork to create a focused contrast between classical craftsmanship and modern design.

Dust the marble regularly with a soft dry cloth and wipe with a damp cloth using neutral pH soap if necessary, while avoiding abrasive cleaners on gilt bronze mounts to prevent stripping the delicate original gilded surface.
