For Sale by Poirot Art Deco
Description

A magnificent, large Art Deco French clock with its pair of matching garnitures. Three well-modelled silvered ladies are positioned on top of the clock. The main body of the clock is made of highly veined brown and white marble and green veined onyx. It features applied gold-coloured metal decoration in a striking, stylised Art Deco design. The clock face is brass, with Art Deco black numerals and hands. The two garnitures, made from the same materials as the clock, are works of art in their own right and would hold pillar candles very well if required. All three pieces are in excellent condition, with just wear to the clock face. The clock strikes the hours and each half hour; it has just been cleaned and serviced by a qualified horologist and keeps good time.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Art Deco clock sets from this period are defined by geometric architecture, symmetry, and stylized figures. They commonly feature a central mechanical clock built into stepped stone flanked by two decorative side garnitures.

These sets typically combine multi-coloured marble or variegated onyx bases with cold-cast or silvered spelter and bronze sculptures. Clock faces often feature brass, chrome, or etched glass with stylized numerals.

Authentic pieces feature heavy, natural stone bases with visible veining and period mechanical movement mechanics inside the casing. Sculptures often carry founder marks or artist signatures along the lower edges.

Position the set symmetrically on a fireplace mantelpiece or atop a wide sideboard. The geometric shapes provide visual structure when paired alongside minimalist decor or neutral backdrops.

Clean the stone casing using a dry microfibre cloth or a specialised marble polish. Avoid harsh chemicals on spelter figures and consult a horologist for routine winding and mechanical movement servicing.
