~ French - Circa 1880 ~~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~A beautiful original antique French clock set. It features charming figures of cherubs, finely modelled in gilt bronze. Two carrying the clock aloft with the pendulum swinging gently below while two cherubs follow beside, each with two candle sconces modelled as laurel branches. The garniture sits upon white marble bases. The dial is porcelain on copper with the original beautifully cut gilt hands. The dial is signed Lieutard, Horloger du Roy, Paris.The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Gilt bronze pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video to hear the bell and watch the clock running!Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean with some wear in places, some adornments being a darker colour then the rest of the set. Marble is also excellent with just some nibbles to the edges. The dial is also in excellent condition, just some rubbing to the signature.The bezel is marked for maker / retailer Charles Hour.
