Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Qing dynasty, portable writing boxes were essential items for scholars, merchants, and officials to carry calligraphy tools, paper, and correspondence materials. These boxes combined portability with refined craftwork, often reflecting the status of the owner.

These boxes were constructed using dense hardwoods such as huanghuali, zitan, or rosewood due to their durability and distinct grain patterns. Decorative elements frequently incorporated flush-fitting brass straps, corner brackets, and intricate metal inlay work.

Authentic pieces feature traditional joinery techniques like dovetails or mortise-and-tenon construction without modern screws or adhesives. The wood typically exhibits natural grain movement, historical patination around hand-cut brass fittings, and smooth wear consistent with age.

A writing box can be positioned on an office desk, console table, or sideboard as a functional decorative accent. Its rich wood grain and brass details complement both classic library settings and modern minimalist spaces.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or drying out. Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply natural beeswax polish sparingly along the grain to preserve the timber and brass.
