Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian tea caddy is a lockable wooden box or container made during the Georgian era, spanning 1714 to 1830, designed specifically to hold dried tea leaves securely.

Georgian tea caddies were predominantly built from high-grade hardwoods such as mahogany, satinwood, and walnut, frequently featuring zinc or foil linings alongside bone, ivory, or brass keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic Georgian caddies typically display hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct brass hardware, original foil or lead linings inside the compartments, and natural wear around keyholes and base rims.

An antique tea caddy functions well as a decorative focal point positioned on a sideboard top, mantelpiece, or bookshelf, providing texture and historical depth when placed alongside modern ceramics or framed artwork.

Keep the caddy away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent wood movement or cracking, dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying beeswax occasionally to preserve the original finish.
