A Pair of Rosewood Bergère Library Armchairs, English Circa 1825

This rare and impressive pair of Bergere library armchairs has comfortable tub shaped cane backs that flow into carved, scrolled arms with upholstered green leather pads with a brass nailed boarder. They are supported by carved, shaped brackets that rise from the caned seat platform and are fitted with a green buttoned leather swab cushion. Below, the front legs are elegantly turned and carved with an inverted tulip design. Finished with original brass casters, the rear ones are of a simpler square form with a stylish back sweep, again with original brass cup casters.

These superb chairs have been bought from a private collection of fine furniture, and they have not been on the market for over 40 years. They are in excellent condition with good colour and patina. The leather upholstery is in excellent condition.
