Victorian Oak Tool Box Chest

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Past to Present

A fantastic oak tool chest/box that dates to around 1890

Made by Thomas Ibbotson and Co who was a highly regarded tool manufacturer based in Paternoster Row in Sheffield, who made tools and boxes such as these until they were taken over by Marples and Co in 1905

It is in great original condition, having had a gentle clean and waxing. The original signs of use have been retained, including the tool list and the manufacturer’s labels

It has a drawer with ebonised handles which can be locked from the inside by a lever adjacent to the working brass lock with its original key….quite unusual

It measures 19 inches wide, 11 inches deep and 8 inches high

A really attractive box that would make a nice present for a ‘ tool mad ‘ loved one
