A fine Victorian oak spindle-back desk chair of generous proportions, dating to the late 19th century, circa 1870–1890.
The chair features a well-shaped, solid oak saddle seat with attractive grain, rising to a curved spindle back beneath a broad, gently arched crest rail. The scrolled arms flow elegantly into the supports, providing both comfort and strong visual balance. It stands on shapely cabriole-style legs united by a simple stretcher, giving the chair a confident stance and excellent stability.
Well-proportioned and notably larger than many comparable examples, this chair would have been intended for use at a desk or writing table, offering substantial presence and comfort. The oak has developed a warm, even patina, enhancing the character and highlighting the quality of the timber.
