Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dutch marquetry of the 18th century is distinguished by elaborate floral, foliage, bird, and urn inlays executed with contrasting woods on walnut or oak frames. Influenced by Rococo and Baroque styles, these pieces often feature curved splats, cabriole legs, and expressive carved details.

These chairs were primarily constructed from dense hardwoods such as walnut or oak. The decorative inlays utilized various fruitwoods, holly, or boxwood, while seat foundations featured woven webbing and horsehair upholstery under natural fabric covers.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn veneer thickness, irregular hand-carved joinery, and natural oxidation on unpolished undersides. Look for genuine wear along the armrests, feet, and stretchers, alongside subtle shrinkage gaps in the timber joints.

An antique carver chair works effectively as a statement accent piece in a contemporary hallway, paired with a modern writing desk, or positioned at the head of a minimalist dining table to create visual contrast.

Keep the chair in a climate-controlled environment away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage or veneer lifting. Clean surfaces with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality natural beeswax polish annually.
