Handsome Set of Eight (6+2) George IV Period Mahogany Dining Chairs A handsome set of eight antique solid mahogany dining chairs in the classic Chippendale style, dating from around 1830 and comprising two armchairs and six single chairs. The quality is excellent, and the design particularly attractive. The backs are pierced with fine fretwork, and the legs are double stretchered for extra stability. All chairs have drop-in upholstered seats, with the two carvers matching the six singles. The mahogany has a gorgeous colour and patina, and the original polish finish has been retained. Each chair features a shaped and carved top rail with moulded uprights and a pierced, carved central splat; the armchairs also have shaped and moulded arms. This leads down to drop-in upholstered seats in a neutral fabric, currently in good condition (and easily re-upholstered in a fabric of choice if desired).
