Description:
A fine quality antique English late 19th century Victorian rectangular Arts & Crafts wall mirror, incorporating a scroll-carved gilt frame, circa 1880, in good condition. The gilt wall mirror is decorated with subtle scroll raised carvings on a pine frame, retaining the original gilt finish. The rectangular wall mirror includes a replacement plate-glass mirror and hanging rope, which is in good condition. Wall mirrors of this period and design were usually constructed of pine, before a gesso and gilded finish was applied. The carving to the frame is subtle, with a pleasantly balanced gilded finish to produce a lovely patination. This Arts & Crafts wall mirror is a good practical size, measuring 73cm high x 58cm wide; allowing it to be used in most in most rooms in the house; in either a traditional or contemporary setting. It can be hung in either a landscape or portrait position, to enhance any room.
Condition Report:
A fine quality antique English late 19th century Victorian rectangular Arts & Crafts wall mirror, incorporating a scroll-carved gilt frame, circa 1880, in good condition. The frame and carvings are original and in good sturdy condition. Nominal old use marks, to the leading edges of the frame. Importantly, there is no damage or missing pieces to the carvings. The plate mirror and hanging cord has been replaced and is in good condition, with old use marks to the mirror.
