In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1890s.
Inside, the box is fully lined with plush green velvet and it has a fitted lift out tray with various sections for rings, bracelets etc and a large section below the trays for storing larger pieces. The lock is stamped "Chubbs Patent, 128 Queen Victoria St. St Paul's London" and it comes with a working key.

The box is in good condition for its age. It has been well used and has a lovely worn patina. The outer has some age related knocks and scuffs and there are some missing patches of leather (see photos) but it displays well. The interior is generally clean and tidy and it is certainly a nice usable item.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
