FAQs

Art Nouveau furniture, emerging in the late 19th century, is characterised by organic forms, flowing lines, and motifs inspired by nature, often avoiding symmetry in favour of dynamic, whipping curves.

These chairs were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods such as oak, walnut, and mahogany, often featuring carved detailing and upholstered seats covered in patterned textiles or leather.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-accurate joinery techniques, characteristic naturalistic or geometric carvings, and appropriate ageing of the wood and upholstery materials consistent with turn-of-the-century manufacturing.

Pairing these chairs with a minimalist modern dining table creates a striking contrast that highlights their craftsmanship, blending historical character with clean, contemporary lines.

Maintain the wood by applying microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the surface, keep them away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, and gently vacuum upholstery using a soft brush attachment.
