Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The William IV period, spanning roughly from 1830 to 1837, bridges late Regency and early Victorian aesthetics, characterised by robust proportions, classical influences, and often heavy mahogany or rosewood construction.

These pieces typically feature solid timber frames such as mahogany, traditional hand-tied coil spring upholstery, horsehair stuffing, and heavy brass castors mounted on turned wooden legs.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the hand-turned wooden components, traditional joinery methods, patination on the timber, and the construction of the interior webbing and stuffing.

This type of chair serves as a focal point in a living room or study, where mixing its historic silhouette with contemporary minimalist surroundings creates a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Preservation involves keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to protect the textile and timber, alongside regular gentle vacuuming with a soft brush attachment.
