Regency Rosewood and Mother of Pearl Inlaid Sewing Box C 1830

Description

Regency rosewood sewing box with patterned mother of pearl inlay. The inlay and the rosewood are all in immaculate order.

It is 30 cm wide, so a good size, and inside the lid you find a quilted silk section which drops forward in a concertina fashion. This is edged with a gilded leather strip.

The tray is fitted with various sections for needles and pins , and this lifts out to reveal line storage space.

This is a beautiful box in excellent order, and the only fault I can find is that the button from the tiny lid front left of the tray is missing.
