Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Regency style, spanning the early 19th century in Britain, draws heavily on classical Greco-Roman motifs, featuring clean architectural lines, restrained ornamentation, and an emphasis on the natural grain of fine timbers like mahogany and rosewood.

These pieces were typically constructed using solid hardwoods or high-grade veneers applied to secondary timbers, joined with dovetailed corners for structural integrity, and fitted with hand-cast brass hardware, escutcheons, and locks.

Authenticity is determined by examining the joinery methods, such as hand-cut dovetails, the type of secondary wood used inside, the nature of the patina and oxidisation on the brass elements, and the presence of period-appropriate hand-cut screws or fixings.

An antique wooden box provides a tactile contrast when placed on contemporary surfaces such as a minimalist console table, a marble mantelpiece, or styled atop a stack of books on a home office desk.

Preservation requires keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent warping or fading, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood without building up heavy residues.
